Join KidWind for this hydropower virtual workshop to explore the science of water based power!

During this virtual workshop, educators will learn the foundations of water power including the science and technology of hydropower turbines. This workshop will also introduce activities for the classroom that engage students in dynamic, hands-on energy-based learning.

All teachers who pre-register will receive a $100 kit before the 3 hour virtual training and will go through how to use these materials in the classroom. This workshop has self guided and in-person components.

Some things to know:

• This workshop and the materials used are geared towards middle school and high school teachers.
• No prior knowledge of hydropower is required.
• You will need a stable internet connection and dedicated space in which to work.
• You will need access to a sink to do some basic hydropower experiments.
• KidWind will ship you a box of material 4-7 days before the workshop.
• Preservice and retired teachers are welcome!

The mission of the GigaZone TechXpo is to spark excitement and create opportunities with technology by connecting students and job seekers with employers, educators and technology enthusiasts from across northern Minnesota. 

The event will be held concurrently with the GigaZone Gaming Championship, an arena-style e-gaming competition produced by Paul Bunyan Communications. Last year’s event attracted more than 4,000. 

The TechXpo will allow businesses that are creatively leveraging technology the opportunity to demonstrate their innovations to a large group of tech-savvy, potential employees. Educators and educational institutions can have their tech-oriented students show off projects and promote technology training programs they offer to their students.

The ABRF Annual Meeting is an international program that provides timely updates on cutting-edge science and its execution in a shared resource/core facility setting. These meetings also offer informative and practical workshops as well as ample networking opportunities with academics, corporate, and technology partner colleagues.

This workshop is funded and tailored specifically for community and technical college faculty members wishing to expand their knowledge, earn an industry certification, and strengthen their ability to incorporate new cybersecurity content in their community college curriculum. This workshop is not intended for students or other non-faculty participants.

The 2024 VEX Robotics World Championship, presented by the Northrop Grumman Foundation, will be held April 25 through May 3 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas. The annual event brings together the top VEX IQ Robotics Competition, VEX Robotics Competition, and VEX U Robotics Competition teams from around the globe to celebrate their accomplishments and be crowned champions.

Go beyond focusing solely on presenting yourself as the optimal candidate and utilize the interview to determine if an internship/job opportunity is a “Good Fit” for you. In this workshop you’ll gain strategies to clarify your career and educational goals and frame questions to obtain accurate information to assess if a workplace will support those goals, while also learning to recognize potential misalignments.

• Define what a ‘bad fit' or 'toxic work environment’ is
• Outline and clarify your own goals before the interview
• Use questions during an interview to determine whether a workplace is in alignment with your goals and values
• Articulate strategies and practice language to frame questions
• Describe examples of verbal and non-verbal red flags indicating the opportunity may not be a “Good Fit”
• Describe factors that can make it difficult to recognize and weigh the potential impact of red flags during and after an interview
